I report on community, culture, and social issues.

But I wear many hats.

Engagement journalism

  • In 2018, I was hired on to lead the engagement journalism series, curiousKC, at Kansas City PBS. Since then, I've helped revamp the series, and also produced audience-centered work for TV, radio and our digital platform. curiousKC engages actively with the public to cover their interests, concerns and questions. curiousKC is powered by Hearken.

  • The public is central to how I report for curiousKC. Taking a more collaborative approach, we've learned the history of racial covenants in Kansas City, facilitated a conversation between a Protestant pianist and local Imam to discuss the similarities between Islam and Christianity, and tackled community questions about COVID-19.

  • I was nominated for a regional EMMY for coverage on a mother who filed a Civil Rights suit against a local school district. As a Black mother with a son with autism, she identified policies that could hurt her son's chance at succeeding as an adult with a disability. Watch and read it here.
